What's in a Name?

Emily Frazier May 07, 2022

The Heart of it All

The name Alabaster comes from the book of Luke in the Bible. A woman breaks her most valuable possession, an alabaster jar of ointment, in order to receive healing by Jesus. She did this in front of some powerful religious leaders. Talk about courage! The courage to be humble. The courage to be broken, poured out, and healed. And from that healing she’s able to love and be loved. Although nameless, we find her inspiring! In fact, she’s the heart of Alabaster.

Letting Go

Sometimes, we have to let go of what we hold tightest to in order to find healing. Sometimes this means letting go of past hurts, old or unhealthy habits, and even negative ways of thinking. In breaking her alabaster jar, the woman shows us that vulnerability is necessary to heal. At Alabaster Creative Arts Therapy, you'll be met with warm and genuine acceptance. We will help you walk through hurts, unhealthy habits or negative ways of thinking. We will help you navigate the origins of these issues and use evidence based practices to help aid in the healing process. We are committed to helping you heal, just as the unnamed woman in the story received healing from Jesus.
